BeMoved Coffee Machine makes you work for it

Posted in News by Conner Flynn on October 25th, 2009

BeMoved Coffee Machine makes you work for itDouwe Egberts wants you to work for your coffee. They think that consumers would like to interact more with machines so they are creating a coffee machine that can interact with consumers through simple games.

BeMoved can be operated using a large touchscreen, or with a motion sensitive camera. Users will be able to drag and drop virtual ingredients into the cup, explore more info about coffee and even check out the news. The weirdest part is that you can play a game where you earn your coffee by jumping. Think of it as a kind of Wii-Fit game that will give you your precious coffee in return for actually burning a calorie or two.

Takara Tomy launches Minutes Gym digital video trainerTakara Tomy wanted them some of that sweet Wii Fit action, so they launched the Minutes Gym Digital Video Trainer which is a pretty simple looking device that plugs into your TV or display with a composite video input. Just give it some basic info and use the integrated body fat sensor to measure your current state of flabbiness.

After that a bunch of animated figures will guide you through your fitness workouts. An incredible 100,000,000. That’s right 100 million 3-minute workouts. You’d have to be Jabba the Hutt to get through all of them and still be rotund.

Speedfit Treadmobile: The next gen Flintstones car

Posted in Personal Transport by Conner Flynn on March 26th, 2009

Speedfit is a human-powered mobile treadmill invented by Olympic medalist Alex Astilean. Much like Fred Flintstone’s old rod, it uses people power to get it moving. The only real difference is that Fred’s feet no longer have to meet the road.

The version in the video is a one or two person model, but Alex wants to create a public transportation version of the treadmobile that will allow a large crowd to power their own mass transit. Sure, it looks silly, but I’m guessing it’s a hell of a workout.

GettaGrip Musclephone wants to pump you up

GettaGrip Musclephone wants to pump you upWhat you see above may or may not be real. But it certainly is ugly. It’s a phone for those of us who want to build muscles and always have a charged battery as a result. The idea is that by squeezing the grips that surround the unit like so much Charmin, you’d not only work on strengthening your finger muscles, but a forty second squeeze would charge the phone enough for use. They recommend twenty seconds for each hand.

Gimmick? You’re soaking in it. Other than that nonsense, which will have you breaking bones with each handshake, it’s a pretty simple, fugly yellow phone.

iPhone Hand Grip charger makes you work for a full battery

iPhone Hand Grip charger makes you work for a full batterySometimes going green can be a real pain. Take this green concept for instance. This iPhone hand grip charger will give you Hulk hands before you even get a full battery. Great for a hand workout, but you’d have to be pretty dedicated to your iPhone to stick with it.

This concept is called “You can work it out” and it was designed by Mac Funamizu, who must have huge beefy clown hands and an always working iPhone. Apple should offer some accessories like this ala Wii Fit. Various exercise gadgets to power up Apple products owned by the obese. It would be green and lean. That’s the slogan right there.

Jedi Gym hopes to replace Wii-Fit workout for geeks

Posted in Humor by Conner Flynn on July 6th, 2008

The Jedi Gym will help you live out your Star Wars fantasies and shed pounds. In this video you’ll meet Master Flynn(No relation I swear) and watch as he uses the force to motivate out of shape nerds dressed like Lando, Leia, Stormtroopers etc. One of the things we learn here is that there are no 300 pound Stormtroopers. Another is that Lando has really let himself go. When Vader drops by, things heat up.

Nintendo Wii Fit finally arrives in the U.S.

Nintendo Wii Fit finally comes to the U.S.
Beginning today, the Wii Fit (the accessory that’s bound to have a Richard Simmons Sweatin’ To The Oldies game in the future) is finally available to some large mammals in the U.S., starting with residents of New York City. It is currently only available at the Nintendo World store in Rockefeller Center right now. The rest of the country will have to wait until Wednesday to work off their double cheeseburgers with the $90 Wii item.

It obviously won’t replace visits to the gym, but once it is widely available, it will be interesting to see if it has any effect at all on our nations obesity problem. My guess is, most people will tire of it quickly and go back to getting their exercise in a line waiting for their fries.

Cycool Bike: work out in style with a fan

Cycool Bike
The Cycool bike is not a quantum leap in technology. It’s an exercise bike designed for people who want to work out, but hate sweating. Let’s face it, if you work out, you’re going to sweat. The “system is powered by your own peddling-the faster you peddle, the faster the fan.”
