Microsoft Releases IE 8 with Accelerators, Slices and Standards

Microsoft Internet Explorer 8Microsoft has released Internet Explorer 8, its latest version in the browser battle. This latest version comes loaded with a set of new features designed to make browsing the internet more convenient, fast and secure. The latest IE browser is also the latest blow to rival Mozilla’s Firefox in the quest for online browsing dominance.

Microsoft added a number of security features to IE8, such as increased protection against malware, cross-site scripting attacks, click-jacking, and protection against installing malicious Active-X controls. In addition, they’ve added an InPrivate browsing mode which will track no history of your browsing activities, negating the need to delete the history after the fact.

Opera Mini 4 Beta Released

Opera Mini Beta browser download availableOpera has released the Opera 4 Mini Beta browser for non-smartphones to be able to surf the internet seeing pages how they are and not distorted or requiring special “mobile” web pages. Users can download the browser now for free and follow the instructions on your phone to get it installed. There is also an Opera Mini 4 Beta for Palm and Blackberry devices that require a manual installation.

The Opera Mini 4 works by gathering pages through the Opera servers and “shrinking” them down to be viewed in full with their original format on your mobile phone. The new browser comes with a number of cool features to make navigating the web and individual pages easier for phones without a lot of extra controls for navigation.

Samsung Partners With Opera for Mobile Web Browser

Samsung Makes Deal with Opera for Mobile BrowserOslo, Norway – Today Opera Software announced that they are going to partner with Samsung Electronics to offer the Opera Mobile web browser on future Samsung handsets.

Most web sites on the internet are not designed to be viewed on mobile devices with smaller screens, but the Opera Mobile web browser uses Opera’s Small Screen Rendering to format the web pages so that they can be viewed better on the smaller mobile devices, even if the sites were not designed that way. Standard sized web sites have been available for viewing through any mobile web browser, but unless reformatted they are difficult to read and to navigate.

Opera Browser Available For Wii on FridayToday Nintendo announced that a free trial version of the Opera web browser will be available for the Nintendo Wii game console on Friday, December 22nd.

If you have a high speed internet connection, you can download the Opera web browser to activate the Internet Channel on your Wii game console and start surfing the internet on your TV through your Wii. This trial download will be available until the end of March when the final version of the Opera web browser for the Wii will be available for download. The final version will also be a free download, but only until June. After June the Opera web browser will cost 500 Wii points to download, so you’ll want to be sure to get it before then.

Opera Mini for Palm BlackberryOpera Mini, which launched in February 2006, has recently released new version of its mobile browser for use on the Palm Treo and BlackBerry mobile devices, with the intention of offering a clean “…no-frills, instant gateway to the World Wide Web on today’s basic line of mobile phones,” according to Rolf Assev who is the Chief Commercial Officer of Opera Software.

Opera Mini is a smaller and more simplified version of the standard Opera browser,and is supposed to offer faster page rendering while using less memory, which in turn means less minutes of air time for the plan subscriber.
