Posted in HTC by Conner Flynn on March 31st, 2011

The HTC Flyer was announced last month, and in the latest promo video, we get a much better look at it, like seeing the Flyer’s UI in action as well as other features, like HTC’s new stylus. Looks pretty good to us.

To refresh your memory, the HTC Flyer features a 7 inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 and comes with Google Android 2.4 Gingerbread, a 1.5GHz Qualcomm processor and a new version of HTC’s Sense UI. There’s also a 5 megapixel camera on the back and a front facing 1.3 megapixel camera for your video chat needs.

MeeGo fans will be happy to get a glimpse of MeeGo’s pre-release stock UI for devices. However just like Symbian, there’s no guarantee that the experience is going to be consistent across manufacturers. There’s a video apparently captured from an online survey that makes it seem like Nokia might be going in a different direction.

Some of the improvements include a powerful multitasking user interface, Ovi Store integration, updated music player, and more. Check out a video below to see what Nokia has been up to recently.

The Meizu M8 is a very promising iPhone competitor and the latest promotional video of the phone has it looking very good indeed. The company has released a promo showing off the UI for its M8 phone. In the video, the phone seems to use features from several phones/platforms, including the iPhone, Palm, Android, and Windows Mobile.

It looks great, but what it really comes down to is whether or not you would want this over an iPhone or the Motorola Droid? What say you?

Windows Mobile 6.5 honeycomb menu is no more

Posted in Windows by Conner Flynn on March 20th, 2009

Windows Mobile 6.5 honeycomb menu is no moreSome user feedback of Windows Mobile 6.5 has led to some changes in its UI. The most obvious change is the removal of the honeycomb. It may still have Trix and Lucky Charms hidden away inside somewhere, but the honeycomb is gone.

The icon grid is still arranged in the same way, but the actual hexagonal icon containers are no more. The second most obvious change would have to be the new scrolling, which limits flick scrolling to one page at a time once.
