Air Picks Air Guitar Toy

Posted in music by Conner Flynn on July 6th, 2011

We’ve all played air guitar at some point and when playing air guitar, we are all rock gods. Now it’s time to take air guitar to the next level. Air Picks are pocket sized electronic air picks that allow you to enjoy a few songs. How you play them in the air is up to you.

There are three picks to choose from right now with songs like Jumping Jack Flash, Satisfaction, Born to be Wild, Smoke on the Water, and Sweet Home Alabama. There is no volume control though so this could get annoying very quickly.

Rolobox, for kids more interested in the box, than the toy inside

Posted in Toys by Conner Flynn on March 16th, 2011

Buy a kid a cool toy and chances are he/she will end up spending more time playing with the box it came in than the actual toy itself. Kids just have more fun when they can use their imagination. Well, the Rolobox is for just this phenomenon.

This little kit is about $14 and has four wheels and a pull string. The wheels and string attach to the box and turn it into a pull toy kids can play with. It’s a great idea, but it’s still not a plain blank box. Nothing is as fun as that.

Tandars Interactive Pet charges via USB

Posted in Toys by Conner Flynn on February 16th, 2011

Remember how popular Furby was? Well, that was then and this is now. This critter has the potential to be the next hot toy for kids. Tandars’ new Interactive Pet monkey is cute and cuddly, with realistic movements and will interact with children and even other Tandars.

They feature sensors that change their mood depending on how you play with them. For instance, when it needs more battery power it will say “ah jee baz nam nam”. Then your kid can then pull the USB cap off of the end of its tail and plug it right into a computer. Sounds weird, but your kids will probably love it.

Hasbro announces KRE-O Building Block System

Posted in Toys by Conner Flynn on February 15th, 2011

Hasbro has announced a new toy line this week called KRE-O. Think of it as their version of Lego. They come in some neat looking Transformers character kits. The kits will include Optimus Prime, of course, for $59.99.

Other smaller kits will also be offered, with mini collectible figures for about $8 and other kits like Bumblebee and Starscream will cost about $25. According to the company these blocks are compatible with “most” other building block systems on the market. That means your Legos should be compatible. Look for these this fall.

Battleship gets a complete overhaul

Posted in Games by Conner Flynn on February 14th, 2011

I remember playing Battleship as a kid. It’s a classic that every kid enjoys at some point, but it has needed an update for a long time. So Hasbro is offering Battleship Live. For your $50 purchase you get an infrared light to cloak the board in order to “see” what is going on.

The gameplay remains the same, the object is to get the right coordinates to sink your opponent’s ships, but you also get spy planes which fly around a track and spy on your opponent’s ships, and to confirm your attack you need to cover both of the “confirm” squares on the side of the board.

Keepon robot is now affordable

Posted in Toys by Conner Flynn on February 2nd, 2011

We first saw the Keepon robot way back in 2007 when it cost a stunning $30,000, which meant that only rich folks could enjoy the little bot. Well, this little silly guy is now available for home use for just $40. That means we can all afford one.

It’s called the My Keepon now and is even more of a “toy”, dumbed down just a bit compared to its predecessor so that it can be affordable. Are you going to buy one? Or is this too silly for you?

TRON Light Cycle Launcher Baton

Posted in Toys by Conner Flynn on December 16th, 2010

The latest in TRON merchandise for the new movie is this baton, inspired by the film. It’s actually a launcher that will fire away a replica of the famous light cycle that appears in the film. It’s a pretty neat toy.

We aren’t sure how far it launches, but we can see a lot of broken TVs and windows in it’s future. The TRON Legacy: Baton Light Cycle Launcher is available now for $16.50.

Mechanical Yoshi is on the rampage

Posted in Toys by Conner Flynn on December 16th, 2010

You might remember that awesome Mechanical Mario from earlier this year. Well, Donald “KodyKoala” Kennedy is at it again and has created a Yoshi version.

It is simply amazing like Mario. He used a Playmobile police station for Yoshi’s back and a couple of Lego laptops for the front display and keyboards. We’re not sure how tall it is, but we picture it rampaging over a large city causing mayhem.

Desktop and laptop screens can be a pain. They collect a lot of dust and dirt. You have to clean them regularly. It’s either that or just ignore the debri when trying to watch a movie. Well, the Groomy and Baby Groomy plush toys from Elecom are here to help.

These cute little critters are specifically made to clean your screens safely without scratching. The Groomy’s belly is made of a soft tissue that leaves the screen looking crystal clear. 1TB hard drive inside a toy TARDIS makes it truly bigger on the inside

Posted in Storage by Conner Flynn on September 11th, 2010

We all know that the Doctor’s TARDIS is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. Now we know just how big it is. One terabyte. That should be pretty roomy for any toy figures that Max Shanly wants to cram inside his TARDIS.

It took some hard work and probably a sonic screwdriver to get the drive in there, but it’s totally worth it. Now Max is working on hooking up the flashing light up top for hard drive activity.

Plush Twitter Bird toy

Posted in twitter by Conner Flynn on August 23rd, 2010

If you can’t stop tweeting and retweeting, this Twitter Bird Plush Toy is for you. He’s a cuddly and soft 3D version of the famous Twitter bird. This is one of the most popular versions of the bird and if you know anything at all about old school rock you know that the “bird is the word”.

You can pick up the 8″ high Twitter Bird Plush Toy from Crefun for just $12.99. Squeeze him, hug him, put him on your desk. It’s all good. At least until they make a fail whale toy, which will eat this little guy.

WowWee’s Roboscooper picks things up

Posted in Robots by Conner Flynn on August 1st, 2010

WowWee’s robots are always awesome as fun companions, but they aren’t very useful for much else. Up until now that is. The company’s new Roboscooper will actually pick stuff up off your floor. Which means that this little guy will clean everything your Roomba can’t.

He takes six AAA batteries, so he can potentially do alot of cleaning. The catch is that it will only pick up small, one ounce objects, and its storage capacity is not very big. You can operate this guy in autonomous or remote-controlled mode. There’s also a “whack” mode, which makes this little bot swat objects out of his way.

Create your own android with this paintable Android figurine

Posted in Android by Conner Flynn on July 23rd, 2010

Dyzplastic’s blank Android canvas is awesome. You can make it into any droid that you want. Give it a Joker face, make it into R2-D2, whatever floats your boat.

This $6 Do It Yourself geek project will be available at Comic-Con this week and should pop up for sale on Dyzplastics in early August. The possibilities are endless. Create an Android Steve Jobs or make it look like an X-Man. I want one.

Takara Tomy RC Mario Karts

Posted in R/C Toys by Conner Flynn on June 26th, 2010

Mario Kart is now in 3D, as in these are real life rc Mario Karts that you can race. The action isn’t limited to the screen anymore thanks to Takara Tomy of Japan, offering real life RC Mario Karts. The controller actually contains items that you can throw at other players including the usual green shell, red shell and banana peel.

If you throw a banana, an IR light will show up on your rear so that whoever hits it will crash off course just like in the video game. Sounds like a lot of fun.

Robot Matryoshkas

Posted in Robots by Conner Flynn on May 10th, 2010

Robots don’t always have to be scary. Sometimes they can be cute and geeky, like these awesome robot Nesting Dolls (Matryoshkas). It’s a new take on the classic old Russian Toy.

These nesting dolls have been designed to look like cool retro robots. And when you have robots within robots, does anything get any funner? Maybe I’m just a nerd, but I like these and at just $14.99, I have money left over to buy other robots too.
