Tesla to open its first sales and service center in EU

teslamodels-sbI think if electric cars ever get to the point where they are practical alternatives to combustion engine vehicles most drivers will be interested in going electric. Before that happens electric vehicles have to get a longer driving range and faster charge times. One of the carmakers furthers along in electric vehicle technology is Tesla.

Tesla has announced that it will be opening its first sales and service center in Europe. The sales and service center will be in London at the former location of the Segrave Supercar Club. Tesla says that it is also scouting sites in Munich and Monaco.

teslamodels-sbElectric vehicles have a lot of appeal to many drivers. You can charge them from the AC outlet in your home and never have to hit the gas station again. Electric cars are also better for the environment than gasoline and diesel vehicles. The problem is that most electric vehicles lack the range many drivers need in a car.

Tesla, famous for its Tesla Roadster, announced a new electric vehicle called the Model S. Unlike the two-seat Roadster, the Model S is a seven passenger electric vehicle that promises to take all passengers up to 300 miles per charge.

Tesla to offer Roadster EV in Canada

Tesla RoadsterAll you hosers in Canada that have wanted to get your hands on the Tesla Roadster are in luck. Tesla Motors announced today that it would be offering the Roadster in Canada with deliveries of the vehicles to customers set to begin in Q4 2009.

Tesla says that its electric sports car is twice as efficient as the Toyota Prius and is especially well suited to reducing emissions in Canada where much of the power is generated by renewable means. According to Tesla, its cars charged in Canada will reduce emissions by 85%.
