System76 Starling netbook goes dual core

Posted in Netbook by Conner Flynn on November 15th, 2010

System76’s Starling netbook has received a spec upgrade. It will no longer have a single core processor, but will have its processing doubled. For $385 you get a 10-inch display, Ubuntu 10.04 Netbook edition, a 3-cell battery and an Intel Atom N550 1.5GHz dual-core processor.

This Starling netbook doesn’t have Microsoft’s hardware restrictions for Windows 7 Starter, so you can go for some interesting upgrade options like having up to 500GB of hard drive space or get a solid state disk instead. 2GB RAM is standard and doubling the cells in the battery will add another $59 to the final price making the base price $444.
