The PSP Go is officially dead

Posted in PSP Go! by Conner Flynn on April 20th, 2011

We told you yesterday that Sony had stopped making the PSP Go. Well, now it is official. They have pulled the plug. Sony Japan has confirmed that it has ceased production of the PSP Go and that all future sales will be limited to current stock.

We can’t say we are heartbroken. It was a bad idea from the word Go. This move will allow Sony to shift its focus to the NGP, which is expected to ship in at least one country by the end of this year. Focus is good. It leads to good consoles. It is the right move.

Goodbye 3.5″ floppy disk

Remember floppy disks? I haven’t used one in years myself and unless you use one to boot up your system when trouble hits, chances are you haven’t either. They bring back memories.

Well, now it’s time to say goodbye. Sony is putting the 3.5-inch floppy disk to rest next year. After March of 2011, the company won’t be producing them. Shed a tear for an old friend. Ah, the good old days, when it took 12 disks to install a game.
