Cowon D3 Plenue priced at $370

Posted in Portable Meda Players by Conner Flynn on February 1st, 2011

If you’re looking for a new portable media player, then the D3 Plenue from Cowon might be the one for you. It features 1080p video playback, 32GB of storage, Android 2.1 OS, and a 3.7-inch, 800 x 480 AMOLED display.

Sounds pretty good, but sadly the price is set at $370. That’s a smartphone price for a PMP. You can pre-order the D3 now, but we don’t know when it will ship. Whether it’s worth the asking price is for you to decide.

Iriver has some new colorful PMPs on the way. We don’t have many details yet, but we do know the model names: U100, P100, and D2000. All look very capable if a bit boring design-wise.

These will be arriving next year and hopefully by then we will have some more info. Until then you’ll just have to make do with your old not so colorful PMP.

Coby MP-835: just another pretty PMP

Coby MP-835Wannabe CE company Coby doesn’t get too much love from us because they rarely put out interesting products. One which is mainly catching our eye though at the moment is the apparently newly released MP-835, a portable media player which is trying to gun for the Apple iPod touch.

The Coby MP-835 offers up a three-inch TFT LCD color display for you to control its functions with. Memory options are available in a rather measly 2GB or 4GB configuration, though this can be supplemented by an integrated microSD memory card slot. It offers support for most of your typical media formats, including MP3, WMA, AVI, WMV and JPG.
