WoW Pod is your new World-of-Warcraft home

Posted in Games by Conner Flynn on April 21st, 2009

WoW Pod is your new World-of-Warcraft homeDo you love World of Warcraft? Do you love it so much that you basically never leave the computer and have a functioning toilet built into your computer chair. Is your desk and keyboard stained orange from living off of cheesy puffs? Here’s your new home. Er, hut.

The WoW Pod is exactly what you need. It has food paks, a cook pot, stove and a throne with built-in toilet. There’s also surround sound. It’s made to look like an Orc’s hut. Sadly they would have to build this hut around your sorry butt, as you won’t be moving away from the computer anytime soon.

VuNow Pod brings YouTube videos into your living roomLaptops are great for viewing various youtube videos and the like, but when you get a few people huddled around the screen you are forced to deal with awkward viewing angles on said laptop. If you want to watch Youtube videos as a family, the VuNow Pod is another option.

It’s a palm sized set top box that is also the first solution to allow consumers to watch content from the web directly on their television, without having to connect a computer. It lets users experience the content together on the big screen TV. Best of all, no awkward viewing angles etc.

Dining table transforms into a pod

Dining table transforms into a podWhen your HAL 9000 tries to kill you on board your space ship, things are grim. But until your computer goes rogue, you would probably be dining at a table like this one. When you and your crew mates are finished, it transforms into an awesome little pod that matches your ship.

It’s called the Kure from Turkish designer Fatih Can Sarıöz. It features a nice column of light in the center that glows blue. It’s a concept that you may well see become a reality in homes of the future. It’s modern and a real space saving design. Just imagine reading the morning e-paper while you eat your robot made food. “Honey can you put the table and chairs away? I’m late for work.”

Pea Speaker concept has Bluetooth balls

Pea Speaker concept has Bluetooth ballsYou don’t see concepts based on peas everyday. Designer Lu Le was inspired by the pea-pod for this wireless “dynamic audio environment” Pea Speaker system, which has seven Bluetooth-enabled speaker spheres, that can be spread around a room for a hopefully awesome stereo sound. The idea is not to have a more perfect surround sound system, but to more completely fill an area with sound. It certainly makes sense and is a great way to have music everywhere. Recharging of the spheres would be through induction when in the ‘pod’. This concept has a very good chance of hitting the market very soon.

Brunopasso pod espresso machine looks fast, stands still

Brunopasso pod espresso machine looks fast, stands still
This isn’t an espresso machine that fits inside of a formula one racer, but it does look super fast with those two dials on top and the handle that looks like it could be a shifter. It was designed by Tadahito Ishibashi for Japanese retailer deviceSTYLE. The pod-espresso machine Brunopasso PD-1 sports a modular design concept that is actually inspired by the sports cars of the 60’s.

They took several automobile design elements like the gearshift-like handle made from beech wood, and the gauges. You would think that with such cool design it would be one of the most expensive espresso makers, but it’s not. It’s up there at $850, but still affordable. Make your coffee feeling like you are going about 120 mph, then shift gears and drink up, feeling like you’re going a jittery 150.

The Revolute fuel cell vehicle
The REVOLUTE would certainly get you some attention riding around in your neighborhood. It even has a remote that can reconfigure the wheelbase depending on how you want to ride it.

If you have something to say to your fellow humans, personalized messages can be flashed from the display along the entire cockpit!. Harsha Vardhan made the vehicle out of high tech materials like lexan, carbon fiber, etc. The seats inside swivel. Looks like a comfy little vehicle to get crushed in.

Armchair Paradise pod is hungry, eats humans

Armchair Paradise pod
It’s a simple enough story. First we see the human lying back, perfectly relaxed in their Armchair Paradise pod, looking quite content. Next, we see that the pod has slammed it’s jaws shut, trapping the human inside, leaving the legs exposed. It will take approximately 2.5 hours to fully digest the human mass. Midway through digestion, the legs will fall away from the structure, having not been consumed. Every pod knows that human legs are the worst part. Too stringy.

How do they lure humans inside? Total comfort of course, after a hard day’s work, plus a built-in sound system that envelopes you in sound. THAT is how they get us!
