DROID 2 running Android 2.2

Posted in Motorola by Conner Flynn on July 20th, 2010

While we wait for Verizon to officially confirm the Motorola Droid 2, we have more news. It is expected to arrive in August, we know that. And what version of Android is it running? MotoBlur? So many questions. Here’s the lowdown from someone who managed some hands on time.

The Droid 2 will be running Android 2.2 FroYo, and the screenshot above confirms it. Looks like it is more responsive than the original Droid as well. Maybe because of the 1GHz processor, Android 2.2, or both. And yes, the Droid 2 has the same MotoBlur skin as the Droid X, with the same notification bar. The source was very happy with it all in all.

Mysterious square MOTOBLUR handset shows up

Posted in Motorola by Conner Flynn on April 11th, 2010

Here’s something you don’t see everyday. A square Motorola handset from squaresville. This oddity is apparently running Android 2.1 with MOTOBLUR and is a QWERTY slider.

We have practically no details aside from the image itself. We know that it’s square. That much is obvious. We will hopefully learn more soon. And when we do, we will let you know. Any of you want a square phone?

AT&T will be selling the Android-powered Motorola BACKFLIP starting March 7. This marks the first device sold by AT&T which runs the Android operating system. The price is $199.99 with a 2-year contract and a smartphone data plan.

So it hit up online or head down to a brick-and-mortar store on that date. Motorola debuted the new device back in January. It combines a reverse QWERTY flip keyboard with a custom Android (Android) operating system supporting the company’s MOTOBLUR technology.

And so, it’s official. Verizon Wireless has announced that Motorola’s Devour will be heading to the network next month. It’s the first VZW phone to feature Motoblur. To refresh your memory, you can expect specs like:

A 3.1-inch capacitive touchscreen, touch-sensitive navigation pad, pre-installed 8GB microSD card and Bluetooth support. We are hoping for multitouch, but there’s no mention of it. We can hope. No word yet on price, but as usual we should know any day now.
