Video Game controller turns hot and cold

Posted in Controllers by Conner Flynn on August 3rd, 2010

Our controllers already vibrate, have six axises and can be swung around and thrown into our TVs, but what we are lacking is hot and cold sensations. Imagine yourself in an arctic level in a game and your controller gets cold. Or maybe it heats up while you travel a desert level. Temperature could really put you more in the game.

An experimental new video game controller was just revealed at this week’s SIGGRAPH conference that includes a pair of thermoelectric panels on each side of the controller. Those surfaces heat or cool rapidly in reaction to what’s happening in the game.

It’s hot! Here’s a DIY air conditioner

It’s hot here in the Northeast. Very hot! If your air conditioning fails or you simply don’t have air conditioning, here’s a DIY solution. You wont have real AC cooling power, but it beats having nothing.

You just need a cooler, a fan, some tubes and a water pump. Then you just need to run cool water in front of the fan for it to cool off the air that blows out, making it only slightly more effective than a regular fan.

Shifter faucet lets you change gears

Shifter faucet lets you change gears from hot to coldIs your faucet a stick or an automatic? Well, now you can have a stick shift on your sink thanks to this classy-looking design. That’s right, you can now change gears on your faucet. It’s pretty stylish and will leave other faucets in the dust.

The idea is that it would allow you to shift up the amount of water coming out of the faucet. Or down. Which is great for people looking to conserve water by staying in lower “gears,” but we can’t see how the temperature is controlled so this may be a big bust. Sure, it looks awesome, but that doesn’t count for anything if all you get is cold water.

Aftermarket Xbox 360 case, quiet, cool, & fat
Is your Xbox 360 too loud? Is it hot and just too compact for you? The Lian-Li PC-XB01 case mod will let you rest easy. The case is like a silencer for the disc drive thanks to sound-proofing foam. It also has great airflow to keep things chill via a 120mm fan or optional water cooling system.

And if you like a console that’s got some extra cushion for the button pushin’, this case is about four times the size of the 360. No pricing yet, but it should be available this August.

It’s a cup that you screw onto the top of your soda bottle and fill with ice cream. And you’re done! Instant ice cream float! This right here is what the future is all about. Making tasty treats easier to consume. You can have your fancy phones and your MP3s, but this will keep you cool and quench your thirst. Ice cream float portability is a beautiful thing.
