E3 2008: Playstation Network gets movie & TV download
Sony just announced that Playstation Network users will now have the ability to rent and buy movies and TV shows. They aren’t wasting any time either. The service gets switched on TONIGHT. And it’s more then just bland Sony content, with content from Fox, MGM, Lions Gate, Warner, Disney, Paramount, Turner, and Funimation. TV pricing starts at $1.99, while movies will cost $9.99 – $14.99, with rentals costing $2.99 – $5.99. The videos can even be downloaded to your PS3 and watched on multiple PSPs. Video is available in both SD and HD. Pretty nice!

E3 2008: PlayStation 3 80GB core pack in Sept. for $399
Forget the 40GB PS3 model. It’s being pushed aside and will be collecting dust in September. It will be replaced by another version thanks to Sony’s “Gentlemen, we can rebuild it” bionic console attitude. The 80GB model is back. It’s being called the Core Pack and has “the same functionality” as the 40GB model, with double the storage for the same price of $399. We think that means no backwards compatibility. This should make PS3 fans very happy.

E3 2008: WiiSpeak community mic for online group chatting
Another new Wii accessory fresh from E3 is the WiiSpeak community mic and speaker that will let you chat with friends and enemies online. It’s not like an Xbox 360 headset since the emphasis is on group chatting and since it resides not on your head but on top of your TV. It will come bundled with Animal Crossing City Folk and will be out later this year. Pretty cool no? I’m not sure how it will filter out game sounds and such, but it must be pretty good.

E3 2008: Nintendo announces Wii Music

E3 2008: Nintendo announces Wii MusicNintendo just announced Wii Music, a new music game that will let you use the Wiimote, Nunchuk and the Wii-Fit Balance Board to create music. It’s not like Rock Band or Guitar Hero, which are based on precise timing. Instead, this one lets you mash buttons and swing the remote around like a crazy Jedi to create some original tunes. Your motions and button mashing will make beautiful music.

It’s like Beamz but with a wiimote. Hopefully less dorky. Users can play different instruments and their are a lot of options like guitar, drums, saxophone and violin. Plus you’ll be able to create music videos as well. You like? I’m not so sure it can compare to pure rocking like Guitar Hero. We’ll see.
