Pure Sensia DAB WiFi radio with touchscreen, streaming, FacebookPure Digital has just unveiled the Sensia, which is loaded with features and nice design. The style is futuristic, not retro and we love the 5.7-inch touchscreen (640 x 480). It boasts DAB and FM tuners and is also equipped with an 802.11g module to pull radio streams from the web and stream other media from networked PCs / storage.

Some other specs include two 3-inch full-range drivers, RF remote, optional rechargeable battery and a 3.5 millimeter socket for connecting to your other devices. Users can also access a bunch of applications for weather, news, Picasa or social networking.

DAB Digital Radio conceptThis DAB Digital Radio design looks like a pair of fancy salt and pepper shakers. That’s because they are meant to fit into your kitchen environment. Designer Anton Webb goes for a minimalist approach.

They are rubberized, splash-resistant, and feature enclosed speakers and battery operation for a more hardy form factor in their environment. The large buttons are touch sensitive, allowing to to use your elbows if your fingers are currently too busy or too greasy to be used. Also features a black LCD display with vertical scrolling text.

solarDAB: world’s first solar-powered DAB radio
The solarDAB is what I would call retro-ugly. Meaning that it reminds me of some of the uglier aspects of yesterday’s gadgets…today. Ugly it may be, but it is the world’s first solar-powered DAB radio, from Roberts. It sports a top-mounted solar panel along with an indicator on the display that shows you the strength of the solar level being absorbed.

With the rechargeable batteries fully sun kissed, you’ll have tunes for an amazing 27 hours. Looks like they have a variety of colors to choose from for $158. Ugly, yes. But 27 hours of music is pretty awesome.
