Buffalo Technology says it is set to release the world’s thinnest external hard drive (currently, that is). The anorexic looking Buffalo MiniStation Shinobi can be yours to fatten with files for around $120 for the 30GB (HD-PT30U2) and $170 for the 60GB (HD-PT60U2).

The Buffalo MiniStation Shinobi models are 5mm (.2 inches) thick and weigh around just two ounces. This makes them pretty very compact and portable, of course, and the fact it is USB-powered just adds to that on-the-go image.

Buffalo Technology popped out today its own spin on portable mass storage by unveiling the MiniStation DataVault. It is set to price at around $130 for a 160GB version and $210 for 320GB.

The Buffalo MiniStation DataVault weighs less than eight ounces and includes a wrap around cable which snaps into place. The hard drive inside this Buffalo offering makes uses of hardware-based 128-bit AES technology for automatically encrypting all data saved to the drive.

Buffalo Technology has announced a new external hard drive which offers you 1TB of storage room and multiple interfaces to work with. It is known as the DriveStation Combo4 and you’ll find the 1TB option (HD-HS1.0TQ) pricing you around $350.

The Buffalo DriveStation Combo4 offers you four options for interfaces with a computer – eSATA, FireWire 400/800 and USB 2.0. This choice of options makes this external hard drive useful for either Mac or PC owners, with Buffalo saying users will get an added 20 percent faster data speed transfer rate due to its special “TurboUSB” software and the face this drive is a 7200-RPM SATA model.

Buffalo drops 1TB into your palm

The folks over at Buffalo Technology want to put a massive amount of storage in the palm of your hand – 1TB to be specific. The computer equipment manufacturer is accomplishing this task through the release of its LinkStation Mini (LS-WS1.0TGL/R1), priced at around $700.

The Buffalo LinkStation Mini delivers 1TB of storage to you via its dual drive design. It can be configured for either RAID 0 or RAID 1, depending upon your data needs, and sports an auto-sensing Ethernet port so it can act as a network attached storage device. The drives themselves are 5,400 RPM, 2.5-inch notebook drives.

The Buffalo Technology 500GB MiniStation TurboUSB is, like most other external hard drives these days, USB 2.0 compliant. It works with both PCs and Macs and reportedly offers up to 30 percent faster data transfer rates than other similar products because of built-in technology. It sports as well a shock resistant design to protect the drive from bumps.
