Amazon today turned on Kindle book lending with very little fanfare. The feature lets users share a book once for two full weeks. The original owner’s access to the book is temporarily revoked during that time. The feature works on both the Kindle reader and all apps.
Loans are free, but eligibility of the titles depends on the publisher and for now may exclude major publishers. Early reports say that some Avon, Hachette, Harlequin and Penguin titles aren’t available to borrow. But don’t worry, more titles are likely to go live as authors either grant rights or publishers change their policies.
