It’s always interesting to know how much a device costs to actually build, compared to what you pay for it and what it is capable of. In the case of the now available Nintendo 3DS, research firm iSuppli has the answers.

They have taken a 3DS apart to figure it all out. The most expensive parts inside are the Sharp screens estimated at $38.80. The processor is about $10, and the memory subsystem costs about $8.36. The user interface with a gyroscope costs $6.81, $5.00 for a WLAN system, $4.70 for the cameras, and about $3.50 for the battery system. The total cost is…

Eken’s Android-powered MID for $100

This seven-inch, 800 x 480 device from Eken is selling for $680 RMB in China. That’s $99.53 to us. Seems like a bargain until you look closer. It has only 2GB of storage, which can be expanded to 32GB with SD.

Some other features include a VIA 8505 processor, two hours of battery life on a single charge and has Android 1.5 installed. So really, it isn’t much of a bargain after all. Oh well.

CyberPower launches compact Windows Home Server 100Best known for their gaming machines and workstations CyberPower has jumped into the Windows Home Server market. The Windows Home Server 100 is packaged in a compact Mini-ITX enclosure, offers 500GB of storage for $399, and is designed to be quiet and energy-efficient.
