We still have no word what the 3DS will cost when it arrives, but we should get an announcement at the end of this month. In the meantime the big N will be selling tons of these models.

Control this Nintendo game with your face

Posted in Nintendo DSi by Conner Flynn on July 26th, 2010

The Nintendo Wii has exercised our bodies and now it aims to work out those facial muscles as well with this game that requires you to use your face to control it. The DSi Ware game called “Kao Glider” (Face Glider in English) allows you to control a hang glider with just your face.

As it flies around the skies, the camera captures your facial expressions and translates them into a gaming movement (up, down and around). It might just make your face sore and tone it up so that these games replace plastic surgery one day.

Midnight Blue Nintendo DSi XL coming in July

Posted in Nintendo DSi by Conner Flynn on June 8th, 2010

We know that Japan has some new colors for its DSi XL, but we weren’t sure if we would be getting any new colors here in the States. Well, it looks like we are and that color is Midnight Blue. I know, it’s very underwhelming isn’t it?

In Japan they are getting yellow, blue and green, but apparently we just get this blue version, which leaves us feeling blue too. when it’s released in July.

Video of McDonald’s Nintendo DS training

Posted in Nintendo DSi by Conner Flynn on April 19th, 2010

We told you back in March about how McDonald’s was going to start training their employees using the Nintendo DS. It’s an interesting idea. And if you are wondering just how it works, we have a video after the jump.

The device being used is the Nintendo DSi, one that features the familiar golden arches. The training is like playing Cooking Mama, but for your fast food corporate masters.

Nintendo DSi XL is also an ebook reader

Posted in Nintendo DSi by Conner Flynn on February 25th, 2010

As if we needed yet another ebook reader on the market. Well, the DSi XL’s larger display could be good for reading some classics. Nintendo knows that there’s money in the ebook market so they will be offering a downloadable package of ebooks called 100 classic books.

It will hit Wii channels on June 14th for $20. Then you can take a break from gaming to read some actual literature. Maybe some Mark Twain or Dickens. Assuming that they offer anything of that quality anyway.

Nintendo DSI XL hits Europe in March

The new Nintendo DSI was launched in Japan in October, where it was called the DSI LL. Well, it will be available in the UK and Europe from the 5th of March onwards, and will be called the Nintendo DSI XL.

The Nintendo DSI XL boasts two 4.2 inch screens, which are 93% bigger than the screens on the current Nintendo DSI Lite, and of course it also comes with a larger stylus to accompany that screen space. The DSI XL also features a wider viewing angle, and comes pre-loaded with “Dictionary 6 in 1 with Camera Function” and “Dr Kawashima’s: Little Bit of Brain Training: Arts Edition”.

Next Nintendo DSi will have an HD screen, maybe 720p

Posted in Nintendo DSi by Conner Flynn on January 6th, 2010

Satoru Iwata recently announced that the next DS will have a motion sensor, but that isn’t all. He also told Asahi that it will have a higher-resolution screen. An HD screen.

The next DS, after the DSi XL, will feature a 1024 x 768 screen, which close to 720p. Aside from that, Iwata also confirmed that Nintendo is in talks with several networks for connected DS consoles. Obviously they want to compete with iPhone games. Our guess is that an app store will also accompany these upgrades.

Nintendo DSi LL gets dissectedAlright so you don’t own a Nintendo DSi LL yet, but you’ve been drooling over it and can’t get enough info, right? Well, here’s a little something for ya. A few lucky folks managed to get their hands on the LL and have immediately and lovingly dissected the device.

Think of it as an autopsy that they’ve performed so that you won’t have to. Have fun checking out the guts of this larger DSi. Unless you’re the squeamish type. We undertstand. It can be hard to look at something you love being so…violated.

dsiEveryone knows that as soon as you get a DSi you have to become a professional photographer, since the camera on the DSi is so great and all. So get yourself this DSi Studio Kit that allows you to add removable flash, wide angle, macro and telephone lens attachments.

There’s also a set of color filters so you can create visual effects. Judging by the design and colors, this is aimed at young girls, but what do you care. You’re the guy taking pics with a DSi.
