Resistance 2 for PS3 Launches

Posted in FPS,Games by Shane McGlaun on November 5th, 2008

Resistance 2I own all three major video game consoles and I use them on occasion. I still much prefer the PC for my gaming, and especially for gaming on FPS titles. I played the original Resistance: Fall of Man game on the PS3 and it was a cool game; I just didn’t like the controls.

Sony has announced that the follow-up to Resistance: Fall of Man is now available exclusively for the Sony PS3. The game was developed by Insomniac Games and is the firm’s fourth PS3 exclusive. Resistance 2 expands on the original game with larger environments, multiplayer action and more.

BioShock PS3When BioShock first hit store shelves for the PC and Xbox 360 it proved to be one of the most popular games around. The PC version of the game had its share of early bugs, but the game overall was great. It offers fun play and a very original storyline.

2K Games has announced that BioShock for the PS3 is now available to purchase. The PS3 version may be late to the game, but 2K promises some exclusive PS3 content to make up for it. One of the exclusives are challenge rooms that will be available for download at a later date.

Crysis WarheadI am a huge fan of PC gaming, not that I don’t do my share of console gaming. If a title is available on multiple platforms though, I prefer it on PC. Recently the number of exclusive PC titles has been very slim, but EA and Crytek are changing that with one doozy of a PC exclusive.

EA and Crytek announced today that Crysis Warhead will be available in retail stores on September 18 as a PC exclusive. Crysis Warhead marks the second installment in the Crysis universe and the first game was tons of fun. As fantastic as the graphics in the original Crysis were, Crytek promises even more this time around.

Halo 3 from Microsoft and is expected to net a lot of moneyHow much money is Microsoft expecting to make from “Halo 3“? The highly anticipated final chapter in the best-selling “Halo” gaming franchise arrives on game shelves a week from today and everyone knows that it’s going to be a sellout, but really, how much is it going to earn for the big M?

According to Lazard Capital Markets analyst Colin Sebastian “Halo 3” could stand to make for its owners $200 million dollars alone on launch day and establish a new record for the best-selling video game ever. The current champion is Blizzard’s “World of Warcraft” expansion pack “The Burning Crusade” which came out early this year. In its first 24 hours in release 2.4 million copies of “Burning Crusade” were sold to players inhabiting Azeroth. There are no records as to how many bags of Cheetos or cans of Mountain Dew were consumed on that day but we’re guessing that share holders of those two companies were as pleased as their Microsoft counterparts.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl coming soonHow many E3s have come and gone and gamers were still left wondering whether “S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl” would ever see the light of day? European game designer GSC Game World has been promising a timely release for their first-person shooter for five years and release dates have slipped by. We were beginning to think that “S.T.A.L.K.E.R.” was vaporware like “Duke Nukem Forever” but low and behold, THQ has announced that “S.T.A.L.K.E.R.” has finally gone gold and will be shipping to retail stores around March 20.

You start the game as a stalker, sort of a futuristic bounty hunter that prowls the contaminated area that surrounds Chernobyl searching for relics and the whereabouts of another stalker. Over the decades since the nuclear reactor explosion of 1986, the animals and wildlife in the Chernobyl region have mutated and become strange, deadly creatures. As well, …

New Maps for Resistance: Fall of Man

Posted in FPS,PS3 by Reuben Drake on March 6th, 2007

New Maps for Resistance: Fall of ManIn a recent interview with IGN, Eric Ellis, the Multiplayer Team Leader of Insomniac, announced that the most popular game on the PS3, Resistance: Fall of Man, will be receiving a couple new maps in time for the Australian and European launch. Thankfully, these two maps are going to be completely new ones based somewhere in England.

Along with these maps are two new modes: Team Conversion and Assault. Team conversion is exactly like Conversion, but just with teams. Assault will be based around attacking and destroying nodes to try and reach the other team’s base, to destroy that as well.

Hopefully, these new features will help to keep us going until we get a few more games in our PS3 library. As an added tidbit, while Eric and the guys over at IGN were in discussion about a possible …
